Microwave Cookers for 3 Meals a Day
Practically everyone has microwave cookers today. What would we do without them? Who knows!
What most people don’t realize is that they can be used for a lot more than reheating leftovers. With the right recipes and a few added tools, you can cook a whole meal in minutes, without ever turning on your stove or oven. Here are a few suggestions for every meal of the day.
Bacon & Eggs for Breakfast
You can cook bacon on a plate, using two paper towels (one on the bottom and one on top) to absorb the grease. But, special cookers make it crispier and reduce the mess. Plus, there is no need for paper towels.
The cooker is shaped like a pitcher with a handle. The bacon is draped over the top of a special insert and the grease drips into the bottom of the container.
The only consideration is height. The cooker won’t fit in a smaller oven. A flat skewer-type rack is an alternative, but they are a little more difficult to use.
Scrambled eggs can be cooked easily on full power, but for any other style, you must be sure to prick the yolk. Otherwise, you’ll have pieces of egg all over the inside of your oven.
Special microwave cookers are not really much of an improvement over what you can do with a bowl and a piece of plastic wrap. But, some users say that they cook more evenly. As long as the price is right, it could be worth a try. But, it will probably end up in a cabinet somewhere with other unused gadgets.
Broccoli and Rice for Lunch
Rice takes a little less time and is simply easier to do in microwave cookers. But, the nicest thing is that you can cook the veggies right in with the rice.
Ovens vary, as do different types of rice, but in most cases, you cook the rice on high for 5-7 minutes. Then stir and place fresh broccoli on top. Reduce the power to 50% and in about 10 minutes, you’ll have a healthy meal.
Pasta for Dinner
If you want to do pasta in the microwave, you need a special cooker. Luckily, the better ones can be used for more than just pasta. Soup, vegetables and even chocolate cake will cook up in minutes.
